Christmas Stocking Craft - First Attempt

My first attempt, sad but true, at making Christmas stockings! Sad because I had originally wanted to make nice stockings with nice material and our names on it! However, it came down to Christmas Eve night and I realized that we had no stockings (unfortunately due to our last move, our stockings are lost =( ). So, I whipped these together last minute Christmas Eve night! And you know what? They worked! And I was pretty proud of them, just for making them! I still plan on making some nice ones for our family... but in case you want to make some nice ones for your family for next year, here is the template!

This is the original. From this just tape a piece of paper next to it and extend the lines to the left (straight lines) to make the rest of the stocking. 11 inches. This will also need a line drawn around the outside (1/2 inch) for sewing allowance. Or you can see the next template.

This is the same stocking with the already drawn 1/2 inch allowance. Doing the same thing though, extend 11 inches, straight lines to make the rest of the stocking.

Just cut 2 pieces of material for the stocking (You will just need 1/4 yard for ONE stocking), or added material if you wish to add different material to the top.

Sew the tops down about 1/4 inch so the tops do not fray or look bad.

Sew with the print-side or good-side inward and facing eachother. Sew on the inner line (1/2 inch from the edge). Turn inside-out. Voila! Done!

Can also add embroidered names to material before sewing. Can also add ribbons, jewels, additional materials, and so forth to individualize.

Hint: Wait for sales at fabric stores (usually there is a sale every holiday weekend) or sign up online for fabric store sign ups and they will send you coupons.

Christmas Wreath Craft

This season, the cheapest wreath I could find was at Walmart for $15. I just kept thinking I could do better. I know $15 isn't much! But I was determined not to spend much on decorations for Christmas this year! So, I made this wreath for about HALF the price! Not bad... and I felt pretty good about myself for not spending much and saving money, and also for making something for our home!

$2 for a plain wreath not decorated - Walmart

$4 on the red decorations ($1 each) - Walmart

$1 on the green ornaments - Walmart

(I also used the green Christmas ribbon at the top to make a bow. I spent a couple of dollars on a whole roll of it, so I can use it for other stuff, or you can use whatever ribbon or other Christmas colored object and just HOT GLUE it to the wreath! I also didnt have a wreath holder so I did end up buying the one you see in the picture for $2 at Walmart)

TOTAL PRICE for the wreath: $7
MONEY SAVED: $8

WORTH IT: YES

Holiday Organizer Craft

Here is an idea that you can make for yourself or give to someone. My visiting teacher made this for me! Basically you can use it to organize your holidays or change the color scheme and you can use it for another holiday or whenever! Another GREAT idea would be to use this for some kind of church or other organization! I saw this same idea that someone else had on the internet which looked exactly like this, only they used it in Relief Society Meeting at their church. In the month of December (or again, just change the color scheme for other months), they used the different pockets for handouts for the ladies or members... such as Lesson/Thought, Attendance, Newsletter/Calendar, and handout for the next activity. You just pass it around to everyone during church and they can take the handouts.

Supplies needed:

1 Folder with pockets (using the background color you want)

Different designed and colored paper - just cut and paste

glue stick

Printed words for each section (or just use a pen)

Can also use Christmas stickers and shapes (cricut or print & cut)

French Fry Box

What a great way to give a gift, display, organize or decorate! This French Fry box can be decorated in so many personalized ways. Change the inside paper color or design, or the outside. As well as adding ribbon, flowers, bows, jewels, and any other things you can think of to make this the cutest possible! This comes in a small size as well as large! Try it out for yourself! It is super easy and cheap to make... only really need paper!
