Prekinder Math Books - Coming Soon!

I have gone through several programs in teaching my kids school, and have combined my favorite types of learning to create some teaching books! Every child learns differently, and in using my books, you can use whatever works best for your child!

Each grade and subject will have THREE different books to learn from. Each book will cover all your child needs to learn in that grade and subject.

One book will be a "Learning Book" where you can sit anywhere and read and look at it with your child and teach them, or test them to see where they are.

Another book will be the "Workbook" where your child can write in it as they practice and learn.

The last book will be the "Activity Book" where most children will learn best. It includes games, hands on activities, and crafts to learn.

You can laminate each book so it can be reused for each child! I even laminate the workbook and my children use dry erase markers and crayons!

Each book has a place to put a sticker on it so they can mark it off if they have mastered and completed it. This really helps the kids to see that they do not need to work on that page anymore and they can see what they have learned! This also helps the parent as they can see what they do not need to work on anymore! The focus on these books is for your child to LEARN, and not just to get through a program!

I have just finished the Prekinder Math Books. I am offering to a limited few the opportunity to receive the full PreKinder Math program for FREE for testing it and giving me feedback! Let me know if you would be interested! Prekinder English (Reading, Writing, Spelling) will be coming soon, so let me know if you are interested in that as well!

Reading Reward Chart

My kids had SUCH a hard time WANTING to read! Finally I came up with this reward chart that we laminated and we keep it on our fridge! Let them choose a reward to write in that they can work toward!
Once they have read and marked off all the books they can get their reward!
It can be as easy as a piece of candy, candy bar, or you could make it nicer such as a trip to the dollar store to pick out anything they want! If they need to be motivated, give them a nicer reward the first time, and change it up each time you go through it. My kids are currently working toward a trip to the dollar store! They have actually WANTED to read, not only during the day, but at night time as well! They have improved in their reading as well! Hoping it helps you too!

Laundry room organizing and printable labels

So it has been awhile since I have posted! Life happens! But it is a new year and I hope to make it a better one!

I am currently in the process of making changes to my house... lots and lots of changes with painting and modifying in the next 6 months! BUT over the next month I will be ORGANIZING like crazy and hopefully get my house semi to the point that I really want and desire but find it oh so hard to actually obtain because of the THREE little kiddos that follow me around everywhere!

I started by cleaning up my laundry room.

I found these tubs at the Dollar Tree! I don't know how I ever spend so much money going to normal stores when I can find SO many awesome things that the dollar store or thrift stores! These tubs were $1 each. I made the labels for them. It was supposed to be that chalkboard type style, but didn't really turn out as such... I still they they work, and make me happy when I see it... that is what it is all about... making me happy when I have to do laundry!

You should have seen my laundry room before.... it was BAD. Oh wait, no, it was so bad I probably wouldn't have wanted anyone to see it! This is by any means NOT perfect, but definitely a start in the right direction! That is what we all need to do... little steps in the right direction... I feel so much more accomplished even after the little things!

In case anyone wants some quick labels, I made these to share....

Magnetic Dry Erase Picture Frame

I have been wanting to make this for awhile but I did not want to spend too much money on it. Other people have done it, but I was disappointed to find out the metal sheets cost so much. Sooo I came up with a better alternative... Much like my magnetic file folder games... Use metal paper clips!!! I should have ironed my fabric, but I can always go back and do it!

My plan is to have 3 large frames... One for each child, and add a few nice pictures from each year of their life, so we can actually look at them, and add more easily! I am so bad at adding photos to frames... We have lived in our house for over a year with most frames still empty...yes I am that bad!

This idea also works for a memo board and can be used as a dry erase board!
I suggest spending more to buy the small magnets that are super strong... They work amazing!

Depending on what you plan to do... Add lots and lots of paper clips! I only added as many as I did because I really wanted to see if it would work! And it did!

All I need to do now is order the pictures!

Update: make sure the backing is pushed tightly against the glass, otherwise the middle magnets won't work as well. Maybe add double sided clear tape to the middle, or add something to the back that will push it towards the glass.

Good news is that it is so easy to change out the fabric or add more paper clips. MUCH cheaper than sheet metal!!

Let me know if it worked for you too!

Padded Fabric Bench Seat (craft tutorial)

I was so happy to do this project because I haven't done anything like it so far!

Needed:
8' long wood from Home Depot (have them cut it in two, can make two benches from it)
4 wood legs (home depot)
4 Metal heavy duty top plates (found by the legs and comes with the screws... Makes it sooo easy to just screw in the legs)
1 Drill to make a small hole where the screws will go, so you don't strip the wood
1 Screwdriver or drill with Philips head bit to screw in the screws
Quilter's batting to soften the look of the seat
Foam for added comfort... Makes the seat super comfy! I added 2 sheets to it.

Preschool Activity Binder (Preschool)

I love binders. You can add and take away. You can keep things organized and out of site and stress free. It is also convenient for teaching kids!
I have so many ideas and am just getting started.
One idea is to have a binder of actual preschool learning activities. Something that is fun and entertaining for the kids... Teaches them.... A great entertainer for road trips... And I can use it to teach them more than if they were to do it on their own!

Here are a couple of easy starters. Though not looking great since from my phone and not completely laminated. More ideas to come.

1) shapes and colors matching - ask child to find the shapes, then the colors, or they can do it for fun by themselves.
(I used Velcro on this)

2) upper and lowercase letter matching - have the child pick a letter, tell them what the letter is and the sound it makes and have them repeat the sound and find the small letter that matches the big letter.
(I taped metal paper clips to the back, and put magnets on the letters, so it stays on the spot you want which is great for traveling, and it is silent, unlike Velcro, which is great for church or other quiet places.

More to come.

PVC Baby Floor Entertainer (CRAFT)

This craft is from and done by my friend, since I am currently 9 months pregnant with 2 little kiddos I have not been able to get the crafting done that I would have liked to!

I saw this PVC baby floor entertainer at my friend's house and thought it was soooo awesome! What a great idea to make one of these! I myself have already had two kids and never bought a floor play activity center because I never wanted to spend the money on it... and we were fine without it! BUT if I can make it and not spend all that money that the stores cost you, and you can put whatever toys on it that you want, and spray paint it any color you want... AWESOME!

PVC is quite simple to make, just go to Home Depot or Lowes and pick out how long you want each straight bar (Cut it yourself with a PVC pipe cutter or ask if someone there can cut it for you), and also the elbows (curved ones), and T ones to connect the straight bars, and buy some end caps and there you have it!

If anyone wants a more specific list, let me know!

Halloween Decorations for super cheap! (CRAFT)

So, this post is also from and done by my friend! Again, I am about to have my baby and not really been able to craft much! BUT I saw this at her house and asked her to take some pics for me!

1) The top picture is sooo cool! It hangs above their entertainment center and TV. Grab a dead branch from your tree, or a neighbors (ask first). Use string to tie onto the branch and hang to the ceiling. Cut out shapes of bats, or ghosts or pumpkins if you wish, out of black cardstock, bend to make more lively and use the string to tie to the branch, using different heights for more appeal. The great thing about this... you can keep the branch up year round if you want and add hearts at valentine's day, candy canes and ornaments or snowflakes at christmas, etc.

You only pay for the black cardstock, and string, IF you don't already have it. If you already have it then FREE!

2) Paper plates can be cut out to say "BOO" and use that same black cardstock you got before and make circles and make it look like eyes!

If you already have the paper places then FREE!

3) R.I.P. gravestones! These are made from Baby Diaper Cardboard boxes! Cut into the shape of a gravestone! Paint it Gray, or you could also use duct tape if you already had that. Use a black sharpie marker to write R.I.P. and also someone's name underneath and maybe even a year and saying if you want. My friend and her hubby were very clever in coming up with funny names! HA - I will blame the pregnancy brain, but it took me a minute or two before I got the joke... I thought it was someone's name I was supposed to know. "Kim O. Toedraggin" and "Constance Noring"!

FREE, unless you don't have gray paint or duct tape, or a marker!

Toddler Magnetic Travel Tray

When we went on our super long road trip this summer I wanted as many activities to entertain the kids as possible. One of the ideas was a magnetic travel tray. I bought $1 small cookie sheets from the dollar store, that fit on their laps. I bought magnetic clips to hold their drawings and papers, and wanted to let them color, but that never sounds like a good idea when in the car, to give your children lots of objects that easily fall off and make messes... so I bought a $1 first aid kit (walmart) and added stick on magnets to the back and emptied out the bandaids and first aid items (kept them for use, so you really get more use out of your money spent). Add the crayons to the box and you are all ready to go with ALMOST no spills, as much as one can with toddlers and kids!
The great thing about this... you can use the crayon magnetic box to hold lots of other objects as well... like magnets for example. There are soooo many uses for this tray...
Magnetic Paper Doll
Drawing/Coloring
Magnetic Puzzles
Chalkboard (just spray paint the board with chalkboard spray paint)
Food Tray (Help to keep food on their laps and easier to eat if you are on a road trip and don't want to take time to stop to eat. I suggest when on a long road trip to make those stops at eating times but just to let the kids play and get energy out, then let them eat in the car and make the time go by faster in the car!)
Other Magnetic Games (Possibilities are endless)

See look... no messes made when moved around!
